Sound of the Sea

Limited Edition Lithographs

The Sound of the Sea series was inspired by sketches that I made while sitting near the lava outcrops at the edge of the pounding winter surf in Oahu, Hawaii. In the printmaking studio, I drew the images with a lithographic crayon onto smooth limestone blocks. The image surface was then etched with acid, which chemically alters the greasy drawn areas to accept ink. Each image was printed by hand in New York City, and then hand colored, signed and numbered. There are only 16 prints for each image, 8  black and white and 8 with color, each 4 in. X 6 in. on Rives Archival Paper.
